Tips on How to Care Your Pink Orchids

The pink orchid is an awesome flower. It can be found in any genera of orchids anywhere in the world. It originates in Greece which represents lust, wealth and greed. The popularity of pink orchids increases today because it is often used in flower arrangements, corsages and bouquets. It symbolizes love and affection and usually used in weddings. Any garden will look charming with pink orchids.

It is best grown on a humid soil in a pot, bark of a tree, charcoal and sphagnum moss. The blooming time for pink orchid is during winter to summer from the month of August to October. It needs a half sun exposure for better growth. When placed inside the house it can grow up to 74cm or 29.1 inches. It can be reproduced using different methods such as cuttings, tissue culture or through seeds.

When cutting the pink orchid, it should be 1 cm or .4 inch from the stem and should be done every two days. The cuttings should be placed in warm water for about 15 minutes after being cut and it should be kept in a cool place. It is recommended to open the window for fresh air when placed indoors.  Placing a fan near the plant is advised for air circulation. During winter it should be kept in a breezy location or area.

Pink orchid needs proper care like any other plant. It needs to be watered      frequently when blooming but the medium should be allowed to dry first before watering again. Let the water flow out on the bottom of the pot, removing salts from the medium.  Pink orchid needs fertilizer once or twice every month. In selecting the right fertilizer, the potting medium should be considered. Orchids that are placed on barks needs a higher content of nitrogen. When using a water based fertilizer, you need to fertilize every week.

Caring for your orchids is not that difficult. They only need to be cared for differently. They bloom for months and with continuous care they will live for many years. Basic knowledge on caring and growing orchids is necessary for a successful outcome. Beginners should take time to read more about orchids. The requirements for light, food, water, temperature and air movement is basic but needed to be successful in cultivating pink orchid.
